Trying to use this as an external monitor for a macbook pro (via the hdmi connection) but cannot get it to work I learned the hard way. Mac recognizes that it is plugged into an external display (i think) but the dell does not change from its own windows computer screen

Dell has some lineups that are good quality, some areas of their support are good (enterprise/if you pay a ton), but their software is making the experience of using the machines kinda awful.
