We're upgrading from an old nt4 domain, and i've just got samba ad setup on a new ubuntu 20.04 server 12 i mount a samba share with the following command I have a samba share server running ubuntu
After upgrading to 14.04, i had samba upgraded from 3 to 4
Since then, i can't get group write permission on my newly created directory or files Is it possible to have a samba share read only for guests, and read write for authenticated users If i put guest ok on an share then i am not prompted for a password, and effectively logged as g. When creating a new text file on my home share, or on a global share, i.
The idea is that both samba users and server users belong to the sambashare group, and thus are to be able to edit, delete, and create files and directories However, since created folders doesn't have the write flag for group set, server users cant create new files or folders in those folders without sudo. 2 i have setup samba with active directory authentication (kerberos & nsswitch etc.) on a ubuntu box and am trying to correctly set up a shared folder on this ubuntu box with an active directory group of users have read/write/execute permissions (windows active directory domain controller). Is there a setting for samba server that will force all files and folders created on share to have group ownership set to storageusers instead of user's primary group?
Exact same question as create a user for sharing purposes only but using cli instead of gui
I'd like to allow login access to a shared smb directory, but the users get no other access to the server.
